Vietnam holidays
Devastated by the war, Vietnam has pulled itself out of the economic doldrums to become a vibrant and expanding economy. Good communications along the coast provide access to a fascinating collection of sites which include Khmer temples, beautifully preserved old Chinese towns, the myriad of waterways which make up the
Mekong delta, the dragon's teeth in
Halong Bay and the French colonial splendour of
Hanoi.
Slightly too much emphasis can sometimes be placed on visiting the better known battlefields, although a few places, such as the extraordinary tunnel complex at Cu Chi, clearly demonstrate the tenacity of the people and are an interesting insight into why a foreign power could never win despite superior firepower. In the north and inland, there are some remote tribal areas to be found for those willing to take the time to trek up into the hills on their Vietnam holidays.
Along the coast new hotels are opening at an alarming pace and the miles of empty beach are now coming to life and make an ideal break either in the middle or at the end of any Vietnam holiday.

Vietnam holidays have endless travel potential which include visiting its national parks, trips by boat out to the islands or trekking in the hills of the north where you an visit the local minority groups which include the Black Hmong, Tay and Sa Pho. Spend some time in the preserved Chinese town of Hoi An and sample some delicious seafood in one of the riverfront restaurants.
