Temple+to+be+developed+for+travellers+on+Cambodia+holidays+

An ancient temple is to be developed to entice more people to enjoy Cambodia holidays, it has been revealed.

Tourism officials have announced that the Preah Vihear temple will be revamped to turn it into a cultural tourism destination in an effort to attract up to three million visitors to the site by 2010.

It follows Cambodian tourism minister Thong Khon suggesting that tourism, and eco-tourism in particular, is to play a key role in the future prosperity of the country.

Located in the Dongrek Mountains, the 11th century Preah Vihear Temple is situated on the edge of a cliff and officials have already requested it be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Minister Khon and Hang Soth, general director of the Preah Vihear National Authority, said in a joint statement that the roads and infrastructure in the area are to be developed first to allow visitors easy access to the region. ADNFCR-1391-ID-18524078-ADNFCR
