Tourism to Cambodia increased by 13 per cent in the first half of this year, it has been reported.
According to AFP, Ministry of Tourism statistics show that nearly 1.1 million foreign people entered Cambodia from January to June - a 13 per cent increase on the same period in the year before.
But its tourism minister, Thong Khon, told AFP that Thai tourists are expected to decrease in number due to a territorial dispute on the countries' joint border.
As they cannot visit the Preah Vihear Temple, their numbers are expected to fall.
Mr Khon said the general tourism increase was "satisfactory".
Thai and Cambodian troops have just withdrawn from the 13th century Ta Moan Thom temple in Cambodia, the Associated Press reports.
The temple is several hundred miles west of Preah Vihear and stands at another border claimed by both Thailand and Cambodia.
It was originally built as a rest house on a road between the ancient city of Angkor and the area with is now north-eastern Thailand, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Culture.
