Take+a+volunteering+holiday+to+India+

Volunteering while on a holiday can be one of the most rewarding and satisfying breaks you can take.

Doing so in India can be even better, according to Phillipa Hunt writing in the Telegraph.

Taking up a place in a school in the country, Ms Hunt had the opportunity to work with 90 children aged five and up, all from poor families, teaching lessons in spelling, reading and general knowledge.

Working with another Australian volunteer, Ms Hunt said that the children were "delightful" and she enjoyed the many hours spent "playing hide-and-seek, or football, or just chatting".

As well as spending time helping the poor in the country, it is also a good opportunity to use as a base for visiting some of the stunning places that the country has on offer, such as to the base of the Himalayas or even simply the towns and churches the area surrounding them (Manali) has on offer.
