Gangetic+River+Dolphin+seen+in+India+

A rare dolphin has been spotted in the Chambal River in the Rajasthan region of India.

The Gangetic River Dolphin is one of the world's oldest creatures, and has been increasingly in danger of becoming extinct.

A few rare photographs were taken by nature photographer Ravindra Singh Tomar in March and April this year during the Dholpur festival.

Mr Tomar told The Hindu newspaper: "In the first place, you require keen observation to spot the dolphins.

"I photographed from the banks of the river near the Chambal bridge. If there is [a] boating facility tourists also can [see] them."

The river is part of the National Chambal Sanctuary, but sightings have been rare due to the presence of dams in the region.

Those wishing to see the Ganges dolphin need to look out for its long break, stocky look and large flippers.

Some analysts have suggested that the spotting of the dolphin means that the river system is becoming cleaner. ADNFCR-1391-ID-18737929-ADNFCR
