Olympic athletes will use their time in Beijing to experience some of China's unique culture, according to reports.

Tourists as well as Olympians are also expected to take advantage of China's many cultural attractions whilst in the country for the Beijing Olympic Games.

With the Great Wall of China and the terracotta army in Xian to visit, a significant number of people will use the Olympics to learn more about China's environment and culture.

Michael Chambers, president of Canadian Olympic Committee, told Xinhau: "What I am most looking forward to is through the opening ceremonies presentation, I could learn more and experience more the culture of China, and come away more sewed with my understanding of the culture of China."

One of China's most popular tourist destinations is the Pudaco National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is home to about one-third of the country's mammal and birds and about 100 endangered species.

Over half a million people will visit Beijing during the Olympic Games period, according to the Chinese government.
