Botswana+celebrates+month+of+national+heritage

Botswana is celebrating its national heritage throughout the month of July, it has been reported.

Saki Motshwari Johannes, a correspondent for news provider the Monitor, responded to the celebrations by setting out on a "voyage of discovery" and describes visiting one of Botswana's hidden treasures.

Travellers who are looking at Botswana holidays may be interested to know that the Domboshaba site is an ancient settlement of an unknown chief who lived there with his tribe during the 15th century, she reports.

At the top of the site, she describes relics of houses and says that some people see the site as a religious shrine and throw coins in the site.

Ms Johannes writes: "This rich heritage has the rare distinction of enjoying frequent visits from people around the country and abroad."

She added that the site could "go a long way" towards driving Botswana's economic diversification.

Meanwhile, the Guardian travel guide has recommended Botswana safari holidays and urged travellers to experience the Masharu game reserve on horseback.ADNFCR-1391-ID-18693470-ADNFCR
