Travellers in China will be able to see the Olympic torch when it passes through the country's first national park, this week.
On its way to the Guizhou province, the flame will journey through 2km of Pudacuo National Park in China's South-west Yunnan Province, one of the most biodiverse regions of the world.
One of China's most popular tourist destinations, Pudaco is located at the centre of the Three Parallel Rivers Scenic Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Pudaco is home to about one-third of the country's mammal and birds and about 100 endangered species despite only covering 0.7 per cent of China's land area.
"The national park system embodies the conservation ideal of 'nature for people' rather than 'nature from people'," said Zhu Li, communications manager for the Conservancy's China Program.
Pudacuo National Park contains more than 20 per cent of China's plant species, according to reports.
