An animal sanctuary in Botswana has scooped a prestigious prize at this year's INDABA 2008 awards.
Moremi Game Reserve was named Best Game Reserve in Africa at the continent's travel trade show which is being held in South Africa.
On receiving the award, Botswana Tourism Board chief Myra Sekgororoane said it was a "great honour and privilege and highlights that Botswana has fulfilled its aim of protecting its wildlife and wilderness for the benefit of future generations".
Located on the eastern section of the Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve covers 4,871 sq km of land and is made up of woodlands, forests, floodplains and lagoons.
It plays host to a vast array of wildlife from elephants, giraffe and rhino to leopards, lions and antelope.
The endangered African Wild Dog also makes its home here and receive special protection due to the precarious situation regarding their dwindling population.
Visitors to the park get a true taste of the wild with many being flown in on light aircraft as so much of the accommodation is difficult to access by road.
