Ensuring visitors to Cuba get a taste of the country's unique culture was top of the agenda at a recent tourism fair.
Held in Havana, the island's 28th International Tourism Fair focused heavily on promoting Cuba's artistic festivals and heritage.
Information about arts events including International Ballet Festival of Havana, Cubadisco, and the Jazz Plaza Festival and the Santiago de Cuba's Festival of Fire was sent out to tourist chiefs across the world preceding the fair.
Indeed, the event itself was a cultural delight, opening with a performance by the Cuban National Ballet at the Grand Theater.
Speaking at the tourism fair, Cuban vice minister of culture Ruben del Valle spoke about the emphasis his department planned to put on Cuban artists, writers and musicians in the future.
"In addition to the sun and beaches, we can also show off our solid cultural values," he insisted.
Deputy tourism minister Maria Elena Lopez added: "This is a strategic and decisive combination, positioning Cuba as a tourist destination with abundant possibilities that differentiate it [from other markets]."
