Biodiverse+Tanzania+'still+needs+preserving'

Tanzania may be the most biodiverse country in Africa but efforts still need to be made to protect its people, land and wildlife from the effects of climate change, it has been suggested.

Thousands of travellers hungry for adventure flock to this beautiful nation every year and the importance of preserving its natural environment have never been higher on the agenda.

According to voanews.com, nearly a quarter of the east African country's land has already been set aside as a protected area, which is helping wildlife and its habitat to thrive.

Wildlife is the backbone of the country's tourism industry and the importance of conserving its native animals is high. Currently, one sixth of the country's income is earned through foreign visitors.

Speaking to the news agency, Richard Muyingi, a presidential advisor on the environment and natural resources, said that it is vital that climate change did not threaten the country's biodiversity.

He said that "despite [the fact] that we are emitting about three per cent of global emissions…we are the most impacted" in terms of climate change. ADNFCR-1391-ID-18571982-ADNFCR
