Benin Holidays
Our Travel Expert, Justin, has recently visited Benin. Read about his adventure in
On Location.
Benin may be a narrow strip of a country sandwiched between Togo and Nigeria in West Africa but its slender size belies its beguiling charm. There is much more to this intriguing and enchanting country than voodoo.
Highlights of Benin include
Pendjari National Park,
the stilted village of Ganvié,
Abomey, which is a UNESCO heritage site and the village of
Ouidah, famed for its voodoo and the Temple of the Python. Interesting though they may be, such sights are the staple diet of glossy tourist pamphlets and miss the essence of Benin. Benin is all about the bizarre, the unusual, the incidental. It is what goes on behind the brochure that is truly fascinating.

Burkina Faso is a good combination with Benin. Please click here to download a suggested itinerary:

Benin also combines well with nearby
Ghana or alternatively, on a longer itinerary, with Burkina Faso and
Mali.
